Nicotinamide or Niacinamide is a form of Vitamin B3. Nicotinamide was discovered between 1935 and 1937. It is on the World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines. Commercially, Nicotinamide is made from either nicotinic acid (niacin) or nicotinonitrile. Nicotinamide is mainly used to treat pellagra, caused by niacin deficiency. Nicotinamide is also promoted as a supplement to help with acne and other conditions of the skin.
