The 7 Benefits of MADSA Membership

Become a corporate member and enjoy these seven benefits of MADSA membership.

  1. Influence and change regulations to favour your organization. Malaysia's regulations pertaining to dietary supplements are one of the strictest in the world. The National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency, NPRA, doesn't entertain any feedback from companies on amending such regulations. They only accept feedback from industry associations. Every year, MADSA engages NPRA on issues related to regulations on dietary supplements. These MADSA-NPRA Dialogue sessions have been successful in loosening some regulations to make them advantageous for the industry. MADSA members submit issues to be discussed during these dialogue sessions.
  2. Gain latest and timely information on global regulatory updates. MADSA is a member of the International Alliance of Dietary Supplement Associations, IADSA. Via IADSA publications, MADSA members receive information on developments in the supplements industry globally. This would be beneficial if you have a regional or global presence or want to have one.
  3. Attend trainings and conferences at favourable rates. MADSA members attend regulatory and marketing trainings that MADSA organizes. MADSA is frequently invited to endorse international events, and MADSA members are given preferential rates for these events.
  4. Access to market research. MADSA has commissioned the Malaysian Supplements Industry Status and Trends report, and this is available for free for members. MADSA has also commissioned the Triggers and Barriers to Supplement Consumption in Malaysia, and this is only available for active members. Every year MADSA subscribes to the Euromonitor reports which are accessible for free to members. These reports would be invaluable for strategic planning.
  5. Networking amongst members. The value of this is priceless, as members can interact with other members to gain insights to resolve issues that any one member experiences.
  6. Increasing supplements consumption. Besides the other lobbying exercises we undertake on regulatory issues, MADSA is also deeply involved and committed to lobbying the government to,
    1. remove import duties on certain supplements.
    2. removing sales tax on supplements.
    3. to include supplements into the lifestyle income tax category.
  7. Safeguarding members' interests and public safety. MADSA frequently alerts the Ministry of Health and other agencies on illegal and fake supplements being sold on Malaysian e-commerce platforms and to get them shut down.
