Women’s Wellness Is Evolving - Is Product Innovation Keeping Pace?

17 August 2026

Malaysia’s nutritional supplements market is projected to grow from around US$600 million in 2022 to US$1 billion by 2030. (Editor's Note: MADSA subscribes to the Euromonitor Report 2025, which indicates that the dietary supplements market was valued at USD $1.425 billion in 2025 and projected to grow to USD $1.285 billion in 2030).

And within this growing wellness landscape, women make up nearly half of Malaysia’s population, with approximately 16.3 million women in 2025.

But women’s nutritional needs are not static.

They evolve throughout life, from the demands of busy adulthood and energy management to iron needs, bone health, cardiovascular wellness and healthy ageing.

This raises an important question for our industry:

Are we designing wellness solutions around her changing needs throughout life?

Recently, Nexus Wise, supported by Lubrizol, brought industry partners together through our seminar:

Her Health Journey: Wellness Through Life

The session explored how formulation and delivery technologies can support more consumer friendly wellness solutions across different nutritional needs, including:

→ Iron for nutritional support
→ Calcium and magnesium for bone and mineral wellness
→ Plant phytosterols for cardiovascular wellness
→ Controlled release caffeine for sustained energy

A key focus was microencapsulation technology and how it can help address practical formulation challenges such as taste, dispersibility, stability and controlled release. Microencapsulation is like giving an ingredient a tiny protective coating.

This coating can help hide unpleasant taste, mix the ingredient more evenly, protect it from breaking down, and release it more gradually when needed. In simple terms, it helps make supplements more stable, easier to formulate and more pleasant for consumers to take.

One takeaway stood out:

Women’s wellness is not one need, one ingredient or one life stage.

As Malaysia’s nutritional supplement market continues to expand, there is an opportunity for manufacturers and brand owners to look beyond individual ingredients and develop solutions that better support women through different stages of life.

At Nexus Wise, we believe the next generation of women’s wellness innovation will come from bringing together:

RIGHT NUTRITION × RIGHT TECHNOLOGY × RIGHT LIFE STAGE

More importantly, conversations like these help connect market demand, formulation science and real consumer needs, creating opportunities for better and more relevant product innovation.
