Tagetes erecta is the scientific name for the Aztec Marigold. Tagetes erecta is also known as the Mexican marigold, big marigold, and African marigold. It is a species of flowering plant in the genus Tagetes. In Mexico, this plant is found in the wild in the states of Michoacan, Puebla, and Veracruz. Tagetes erecta is a herbaceous annual or perennial plant with cylindrical, pivoting, fibrous, and shallow root branching system.
