Passiflora incarnata is the scientific name for the purple Passionflower plant belonging to the genus Passiflora and the family Passifloraceae. Passiflora incarnata is a fast-growing perennial vine with climbing or trailing stems. It is found as a wildflower in the United States and in cultivation for its fruit and beautiful bluish purple blooms. The seeds and the juices in the aril of Passiflora incarnata can be consumed fresh or used as flavouring.
