increasing mental health ailments
among Malaysians. Ageing-related
application markets are also growing
above the national average in tandem
with Malaysia’s ageing population.
Dietary supplements for cognitive, mental, and mood
applications are projected to grow the fastest over the next
2 years at a CAGR of nn.n%, albeit from a small revenue base
(2018: RMnn million). Lifestyle factors such as poor work-life
balance, neo-liberalism lifestyle pursuits, and a general
worsening of mental health landscape will drive above
average growth in the application segment.
The second fastest growing segments in Malaysia are driven
by ageing factors. Application segments including healthy
ageing/beauty, digestive system, heart/cardiovascular heath,
and bone and joint health are projected to grow at a CAGR
of between n.n% and n.n% between 2018 and 2020 (market
average is n.n%). These segments will be driven primarily by
the population ageing phenomena, which Malaysia is
projected to attain by 2030 to 2035 (i.e. nn% or more of the
population is aged 60 and above).
