               dietary supplements industry is still
relatively “young” in terms of the
               maturity of market segments (by
               application) when compared to
               advanced markets.

Usage prevalence rates of dietary supplement products
between demographic categories in Malaysia are also
               significantly below country benchmarks.

In the older-age population segment (age 50 and above),
Malaysia’s usage prevalence rate is about nn%. Compared to
Japan (nn%) and Taiwan (nn%), Malaysia is significantly
lower. Usage prevalence rate in this category is expected to
increase steadily over the next 10 years as Malaysia
transitions into an ageing country by 2030-2035.

Usage prevalence rates in both men (nn%) and women (nn%)
market segments in Malaysia are also below country
benchmarks. South Korea has the highest usage prevalence
rates for both men (nn%) and women (nn%) among advanced
markets, nearly doubling the size of Malaysia’s usage
               prevalence rates.
