The modern lifestyle is a double-edged sword. On one hand
it is financially liberating, a product and recipe for strong
economies. On the other there are trade-offs, not least when
it comes to nutritional intake and health.
National surveys conducted annually consistently show that
today’s average Malaysians are spending more time at work
than in other parts of their lives. Along with Thailand and
Singapore, Malaysians work one of the longest hours in
South East Asia; globally, we rank right up the scale
alongside China and South Korea.
Culturally, Malaysian foods are decadent in nature. Coupling
this with late night food excursions, inconsistent diets, fast
food/convenience food, take outs and, of recent trend, grab
food delivery-style services, unhealthy eating has never
been more widespread and damaging to human health.
Furthermore, evidences seem to indicate that the trend is
not turning for the better.
